Dallas-Area Real Estate Agent is at Top of Nationwide Sales Ranking

Steve Brown, The Dallas Morning News, July 5, 2013

Ben Caballero has just been recognized as the country’s top residential property sales agent – for the third year in a row.
How the Addison-based Realtor was singled out for the designation may surprise you.

Caballero was identified by RealTrends, a Denver-based residential sales consulting firm, for having the highest dollar volume of home sales of any U.S. agent in 2012. His selection was reported in The Wall Street Journal.

Last year Caballero handled the sale of 2,267 homes with a total volume of $668.4 million.

The number two agent on RealTrends’ sales volume list – a top agent in the New York City office of Sotheby’s International Realty – sold more than 40 percent less in volume in 2012 than Caballero.

“My 2011 sales were a bit higher at 2,358 homes” Caballero said. “Most were in D-FW, with the rest in Houston, San Antonio and Austin.

How does he do it?

Well, Caballero runs an Internet real estate sales site called HomesUSA.com. It markets new houses constructed by homebuilders.

‘My background as a real estate broker and homebuilder gives me insight into both industries, and I saw that builders needed a dedicated system to efficiently manage their inventory homes in MLS and the Internet,” Caballero said. “I have a great support staff, plus we outsource projects as needed.”

With the majority of homebuyers heading to their computers and mobile phones to shop for properties, it shouldn’t be surprising that firms like Caballero’s are scoring lots of sales.
